The Somerset Fellowship of Drama “Cinderella Awards” were back this year, after a two year hiatus caused by the pandemic. We are delighted to say Sleeping Beauty WON the CINDERELLA TROPHY for best pantomime in Somerset for 2022/2023. On our way to winning the coveted Trophy, we also had a number of other successes. Some time ago, our TWYGs leader Sarah Creswick received the District Achievement Award from NODA for her work with TWYGs. The Corona Virus Pandemic has held up her receiving her certificate, but, as you can see from the picture, she has now received her formal award. It’s a while since the Wayfarers’ last pantomime, but there was the small matter of the bucket collection that had not been passed over to the nominated charity. The bucket collection is the proceeds of the post show donations made by the audiences, which are always very generous, and the Wayfarers donate to a local charity. The title here says it all. The Wayfarers Committee have finally yielded to the inevitable outcome that Jack and the Beanstalk should be postponed until 2022. Having held out as long as possible in the hope that the pandemic situation would change more significantly, it has not and the Committee have been scuppered in the first instance by a lack of rehearsal facilities, before even getting into the plethora of other issues and dilemmas to be overcome.
